Diana work in progress

diana%20wip%2090k.jpgThis is Diana as I finish building her up with blocks of high density foam. Since I started working with this new foam, which has a similar density to light wood, I have been able to reduce the steel armature to a few bars of reinforcement around the key joints especially the ankles. Tomorrow we can continue building with a mixture of industrial plaster, latex, synthetic fibre and a low density filler which we call pasta or paste. This new foam is changing the way I work. I can cut and rejoin it and with sheet copper beaten over it, it becomes extremely strong. Fingers now present fewer problems, I can see their final volume from the start which makes positioning them easy.
